AHP was not a planned builder visit, but I highly recommend visiting them and as many others as you can until you are comfortable (they were our 13th stop). None of them had the immediate connection to our wants and needs until AHP. From the standards that they build to and the timeline, cost, and designs – they were within our expectations or above. In fact, we had plans to build and customize a different home, but Chris showed us a similar floor plan that required fewer out of pocket upgrade expenses, was recently renewed in design, and really checked all boxes for what we wanted: The Waterstone A. Next step was our design meeting – block out a half day to a full day for this. It’s incredibly important. ASK QUESTIONS! Make sure everything down to grout color is chosen/explained. Chris took his time and explained all materials, choices, upgrades, availabilities, and more. We had a vision ahead of time which helped us out greatly. A few items were missed during this visit – which came to fruition later in the build process and caused some last minute adjustments – but hats off to AHP to making it right. They clearly put customer focus first and understood the importance of making this a topic during future meetings. The building site meeting was smooth. The estimates Brad completed were educated, with many of them being nearly right on par. We did manage our own driveway, septic, electric hookup, and well completions. Those are the most expensive and important land improvements and I do recommend that this is done – it will save you thousands in the end. Brad was supportive and helpful throughout. The construction part was an incredible experience and sight. The digging/foundation was quick, framing was fast, the rough electric and plumbing immediately after. Before we knew it, drywall was in, ceilings were done, and it was really turning into our home. Once our items that we customized and picked out started to show up, it was a great feeling to have taken over any of your worries. Finishing your work is 90% of the job, so we were pickier here. Brad and Ben were great to work with pointing out drywall/painting flaws, attention to nicks or slightly off work that we felt needed more attention. Within five and a half months from digging the basement, our home was finished. Exactly how we wanted it to be, and with everything we had picked out. Post build, we have had very few instances of concern. You get a binder full of everything you have in your home, so you will have a reference guide for everything. If you have any questions or concerns, shoot over a warranty request. You’ll have a return visit around 11 months where they will fix nail pops, issues, address concerns, and make your home 100% after some live in and settling time has passed. 2 months into our living, we only have some nail pops and a few workmanship items that have been addressed. With every new home build, you will have ups and downs. Between Brad, Chris, Shelly, Ben, or Jim – it was handled. Nothing that we experienced was critical, and Brad was quick to advise on the new plan to incorporate what we felt was best/correct. They work very well together and keep good communication. I’d not hesitate to build with America’s Home Place if you are in the market. They will treat you well – as if you’re family. We are incredibly grateful for everything!
